The Conversation

This post is part of the Trans-Am series.

I have been having the same basic conversation over and over again. I really thought that Trans-Am cyclists would have already answered them all before, but I guess there aren’t all that many of us. Well, not all that many of us that look like a cross between a wheel chair and a NASA satelite.

A typical conversation might go something like this:

“Is that thing solar powered?”

“No, It’s ‘Joe powered’.”

“Joe powered? It runs on coffee?”

“Hi, I’m Joe.”

“Oh.”

“The solar cell is used to charge my 12V battery, which then charges my cell phone, AAs for my digital camera and my little laptop.”

“Where are you going?”

“Oregon.”

“Where is that?”

“You know the State.”

“What? That’s a long way.”

“Yep. Over 4000 miles.”

“You’re crazy, man.” (or something similar)

“Most likely.”
